How Berean Studios handles information in the Behold app and on comebehold.app.

Effective August 8, 2026 · Applies to Behold and comebehold.app

Berean Studios LLC ("Berean Studios," "we," or "us") makes Behold. This policy explains what information the app and website handle, where it goes, and the choices available to you.

Plain-language summary Behold can be used for local reading and study without a Behold account. We do not show ads, sell personal data, or track you across other companies' apps or websites. Study data stays on your device unless you choose an eligible Behold account sync flow, submit a report, use optional speech or Audio Bible services, make a purchase, or leave anonymous first-party analytics enabled after saving your choice.

1. Information you create in Behold

You may create or save information such as:

2. Local-only use

Behold stores study information inside the app's private container on your device. You do not need a Behold account for local reading and study. Local data may also be covered by the device-backup settings you manage with Apple. Removing the app removes Behold's local container from that device.

3. Optional Behold account sync

Paid, signed-in users may optionally use Behold account sync through Supabase. Sync operates only while the account is signed in and the required entitlement is active. Supported categories include annotations and notes, voice notes, ink drawings, memorization cards, prayer requests, reader preferences, and translation-library state.

To operate the account and sync service, we process a Supabase user identifier, an email address or Apple private relay address when Sign in with Apple provides it, authentication and session metadata, entitlement support information, and the study categories you choose to sync. This information is linked to your Behold account for app functionality and is not used for advertising or tracking.

Supabase is Behold's sole cloud-sync backend.

4. Submitted passage-note reports and support

If you submit a passage-note report, Berean Studios receives the report ID, note ID, note title, verse range, category, your comment, and submission time so an editorial reviewer can investigate it. The service stores a pseudonym derived from the verified account instead of the raw account identifier on the report.

The service also derives short-lived pseudonymous quota keys for security and abuse prevention. Raw IP addresses are not stored in the report or quota tables. Expired minute and day quota keys are removed on an automated schedule. If you email support, we receive the address, message, and attachments you choose to send.

5. Voice notes and Apple speech recognition

Behold records voice notes only after you choose the feature and grant microphone permission. If you request transcription, Behold uses Apple's speech-recognition APIs. Depending on device and framework behavior, Apple may process audio or transcription data under Apple's terms. Voice memos and transcripts remain local unless you choose eligible Behold account sync or share them.

6. Anonymous product analytics

Behold asks you to save an analytics choice during onboarding. The switch is initially presented on, but analytics stay disabled until a choice has been saved. If enabled, Behold sends first-party event names and a limited set of whitelisted, coarse properties such as feature or surface, result, duration and count buckets, platform, app version and build, device class, subscription tier, translation bucket, session identifier, anonymous install identifier, coarse distribution channel, and random event-scoped identifiers used for reliable delivery or to connect one purchase or search interaction with its outcome.

Analytics do not include notes, prayers, search text, exact verse references, book/chapter/verse reading activity, exact tapped words, email, Apple Account, Supabase account ID, advertising identifiers, StoreKit transaction identifiers, or device fingerprints. The random correlation identifiers do not contain the query, result, passage, product, transaction, account, or study content.

For quota enforcement, the analytics boundary derives separate pseudonyms from the anonymous install identifier and the trusted network hop. It does not store raw IP addresses or IP-derived values in the event table, and quota pseudonyms are removed on a scheduled retention cycle. You can turn analytics off in Behold's privacy settings; doing so clears queued analytics events on the device.

7. Purchases and StoreKit

Behold uses Apple StoreKit for subscriptions and lifetime purchases. Apple handles payment methods, billing, refunds, and subscription management. Behold receives purchase and entitlement state so it can unlock features, restore purchases, and provide account-linked entitlement support when you are signed in. We do not receive your payment-card number.

8. Bible translations and optional Audio Bible requests

KJV, ASV, NKJV, and NASB 1995 are bundled for offline reading and are currently free to all users. Reading, search, and translation comparison do not contact API.Bible.

Behold contacts API.Bible only when you request optional Audio Bible discovery or playback. Those requests contain the requested Bible or chapter identifiers and ordinary network metadata. Behold does not send API.Bible your account identifier, notes, highlights, prayer content, or reading history. API.Bible operates under its own terms.

9. On-device system features

Behold may index supported public app content in Apple's Spotlight system so you can find it from device search. The Spotlight index is managed on your device. Notification settings and other Apple system permissions remain under your device controls.

10. Website analytics

Comebehold.app uses Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights for aggregate page-view, performance, and a small set of first-party interaction measurements. Those bounded interactions record only which App Store call-to-action location, navigation destination, study-tool gallery choice, or FAQ topic was selected. They do not include typed content, account or app identifiers, advertising identifiers, or study activity. These are website services, not Behold app telemetry. We do not use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, advertising trackers, or session replay on this website.

11. Service providers

Depending on the features you choose, information may be processed by Apple for distribution, purchases, device backups, Sign in with Apple, speech recognition, or system features; Supabase for eligible account and sync functionality; API.Bible for optional Audio Bible requests; and Vercel for website hosting, aggregate analytics, and performance measurement. Each provider processes information under its own applicable terms and privacy commitments.

12. What we do not do

13. Retention and deletion

Local data remains until you delete it in Behold or remove the app. Synced data remains while needed to operate your account and chosen sync categories, unless you delete the account or applicable records. Submitted reports and support records are retained only as long as reasonably needed for editorial review, support, security, legal obligations, and dispute resolution. Short-lived quota pseudonyms are removed under the automated schedules described above.

While signed in, you can use Behold's account-deletion flow to remove your account and synced Behold account data. Account deletion does not cancel Apple-managed subscriptions. You may also contact us about a submitted report or support record.

14. Your choices

15. Security

Behold relies on Apple device protections for its local container. Supported network traffic uses encrypted transport. Supabase account data is protected by authenticated, per-user access controls, and security quota identifiers are separated from study and account records. No system can guarantee absolute security, so protect your device passcode, Apple Account, and Behold account access.

16. Children

Behold is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. A parent or guardian who believes a child provided information may contact us to request review and deletion where applicable.

17. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the app, website, providers, or legal requirements change. We will revise the effective date above and provide additional notice when required for a material change.
