These terms govern your use of the Behold app and comebehold.app (together, the "Services") provided by Berean Studios LLC ("Berean Studios," "we," or "us"). By downloading or using Behold, you agree to these terms and applicable Apple terms.
1. License to use Behold
We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use Behold on supported Apple devices associated with your Apple Account, subject to Apple's media-services terms and these terms. You may not redistribute, sublicense, reverse-engineer, or extract protected app content except where applicable law expressly permits it.
2. Free features and The Berean
Behold is free to download. The core reader, four bundled offline translations, and free study tools do not require a Behold account. The Berean is an optional in-app purchase that opens the complete visual library and optional cross-device sync through a signed-in Behold account.
Apple displays the purchase options, trial eligibility, territory availability, and regional price that apply before you confirm a transaction. Monthly and annual products are auto-renewing subscriptions where offered; lifetime products are non-consumable purchases.
- Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm a purchase.
- An auto-renewing subscription renews unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, under Apple's applicable terms.
- Manage or cancel subscriptions in Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions on your Apple device.
- Apple, not Berean Studios, handles App Store billing and refund decisions. Requests may be submitted at reportaproblem.apple.com.
- A lifetime purchase grants the associated Berean entitlement while the product and account remain in good standing, unless Apple grants a refund or access is terminated for a material violation of these terms.
3. Accounts and optional sync
You do not need a Behold account for local reading and study. If you choose eligible Behold account sync, you are responsible for protecting your Apple and Behold account access. Sync is available only while the required entitlement and account state remain valid and uses Berean Studios' Supabase-backed service.
No sync service can guarantee that every change will always be available or recoverable. Keep independent exports of study material that is especially important to you and review sync status before removing the app or changing devices.
4. Your study content
You retain ownership of original study content you create, such as notes, highlights, prayer requests, voice notes, ink drawings, and memorization cards. You grant Berean Studios the limited rights reasonably necessary to provide the features you choose, including storing and transmitting eligible synced content, processing support requests, and reviewing passage-note reports you submit.
Your content must not violate another person's rights or contain unlawful, abusive, or malicious material. Bible text, app imagery, authored study material, source data, and other bundled resources remain subject to their separate rights and licenses.
5. Authored content and editorial stance
Behold's authored study content is presented from a dispensational, premillennial, young-earth, grammatical-historical perspective. This is an editorial choice, not a representation that every reader or Christian tradition shares that framework. You remain responsible for evaluating study material and may disagree with its interpretation.
6. Bible translations and third-party resources
KJV, ASV, NKJV, and NASB 1995 are bundled for offline reading and are currently available free to users. Translation text, lexical resources, cross-references, source-language data, and other third-party materials remain subject to applicable copyrights, licenses, attribution requirements, and permitted-use limits. You may not scrape, redistribute, or commercially reuse protected content unless the relevant rights holder permits it.
Reading, search, and translation comparison do not use API.Bible. Optional Audio Bible discovery and playback may use API.Bible / American Bible Society and are also subject to API.Bible's terms.
7. Visual references
Behold's visual references are artistic illustrations informed by biblical text, historical context, and editorial research. They are not photographs of historical events and may include interpretive reconstruction. Visual material is provided for study and reflection, not as definitive archaeological evidence.
8. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Services for unlawful, fraudulent, or abusive purposes
- Attempt to access another user's Behold account or synced content
- Interfere with, overload, bypass, probe, or defeat security, purchase, entitlement, rate-limit, or access controls
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, scrape, or extract protected source code or content except where applicable law expressly permits it
- Resell or commercially redistribute Behold or its bundled content without permission
- Submit material that is unlawful, defamatory, abusive, malicious, or includes another person's private information without authorization
9. Availability and changes
We may improve, replace, suspend, or discontinue features when reasonably necessary for product development, rights compliance, security, platform requirements, or service operation. Some content and purchase options may vary by territory. We will not knowingly remove a purchased entitlement merely to force a repurchase, but specific online services and third-party resources may change or become unavailable.
10. Disclaimers
The Services are provided "as is" and "as available" to the fullest extent permitted by law, without warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, uninterrupted operation, or error-free data retention. Behold provides study tools and editorial material, not professional legal, medical, financial, or mental-health advice.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Berean Studios LLC and its members, officers, contractors, and affiliates will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost data, study material, revenue, or profit arising from the Services. Our aggregate liability for claims related to the Services will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid for the Services during the twelve months before the claim or one hundred US dollars. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
12. Account deletion and termination
You may stop using Behold at any time. Signed-in users can use the in-app account-deletion flow to remove their Behold account and synced account data. Deleting an account or uninstalling Behold does not cancel an Apple-managed subscription.
We may suspend or terminate account-backed access for a material breach of these terms, fraud, abuse, security risk, or legal requirement. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination—including ownership, disclaimers, limitations, and permitted enforcement—will survive.
13. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how Behold and comebehold.app handle information, including local data, optional account sync, anonymous analytics, purchases, Audio Bible requests, and submitted reports.
14. Trademarks
Behold™ and Berean Studios™ are trademarks of Berean Studios LLC. You may not use our names, icons, logos, or confusingly similar marks to imply endorsement, identify another app, or market a commercial product without written permission.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the Services or legal requirements change. The effective date above identifies the latest revision. When required, we will provide additional notice of material changes. Continued use after an effective update constitutes acceptance where permitted by law.
16. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the state in which Berean Studios LLC is registered, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where mandatory consumer-protection law provides otherwise. Nothing in these terms limits rights that cannot lawfully be waived.
